Car Sales Latvia: 2010

The 21st century saw massive growth in car sales in Latvia, which exceeded 32,000 in 2007. Then the economic downturn set in and they then plunged to just 3,700 by 2009. However, 2010 showed a glimmer of hope with a 32.9% increase.
Toyota achieved a 17% share of the market in ’10, a record I think. VW lost the number one rank in ’01 and cannot seem to regain it. Some of the other brands have gone up and down like yo-yos. Peugeot for example was 2nd in ’02, had fallen to 24th in ’08 and is now 5th. The market is certainly volatile.
In the chart below, italicised figures at the end of each line indicates a drop in market share. Now for the top 15:

Rank-Brand-Sales-Share-Inc/Dec
1 Toyota 846 17.0% 21.4
2 VW 599 12.0% 93.9
3 Skoda 338 6.8% 80.7
